  1.  BACKGROUND

mothers2mothers (m2m) is an African NGO that employs women living with HIV as Community Health Workers. These Community Health Workers, known as “Mentor Mothers”, deliver health services at health facilities and in communities across 10 African nations. Since 2001, we have reached more than 15 million people with health services, created almost 12,000 jobs for women living with HIV, and helped to prevent over 4.3 million HIV infections. Now, we are evolving to become a primary health care organisation, using our proven, peer-led model to tackle new health challenges and reach more people, all with the aim of building

a fairer, healthier future

In Malawi, m2m has been operational since 2008, and is currently operating in the Lilongwe District.

  1. PURPOSE

This SOW outlines a request for the services of a consultant to support m2m

Malawi to develop PrEP training materials to be used with the onboarding and ongoing support of Peer Mentors. This work is a critical part of the adaptation of m2m’s evidence-based Peer Mentor Model to improve uptake of and continuation on PrEP services among pregnant and breastfeeding women in Malawi and beyond. The consultant will also train m2m country office staff on the training curriculum and related tools, if any.

  1. SCOPE OF WORK

Reporting to the Country Director, the consultant will undertake the following responsibilities:

  1. Review current content for PrEP from Ministry Of Health and develop a PrEP-focused training curriculum and relevant materials focusing on

Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women (PBFW) to upskill m2m Peer

Mentors

  1. Develop a Facilitators Guide, Participant Manual, Power Point Slides for training purposes

  2. Develop assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of the training materials and incorporate feedback for continuous improvement.

  3. Train Country Office staff on the training curriculum and related tools.

  4.  Develop a report on the identified priorities and proposed next steps for reference if need be.

  1. REQUIREMENTS

Academic Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Education, Nursing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

  • 2+ years in curriculum development instructional design, or health education, particularly in the field of HIV prevention and PrEP Proven skills and experience in.

  • Conducted similar work for not-for-profit organizations/NGO’s, and experience with donor relations an added advantage.

Competencies Required:

  • Strong knowledge of PrEP, HIV prevention, and sexual health.

  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using educational technology and multimedia tools.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Compassionate and non-judgmental

  • Ability to work efficiently and adhere to strict deadlines
