FOR ENGAGEMENT OF A CONSULTANT / TECHNICAL SOLUTION PROVIDER TO FACILITATE THE DEVELOPMENT AND EXPERIMENTATION OF CENTRAL BANK DIGITAL CURRENCY (CDC) IN MALAWI THROUGH PROOF OF CONCEPT

1. The Reserve Bank of Malawi (the Bank) intends to engage a consultant to facilitate the development, experimentation and piloting of Central Bank Digital Currency in Malawi through a comprehensive Proof of Concept Project. The initiative aims at exploring the feasibility, benefits and challenges associated with the implementation of a CBDC in Malawi.
The Bank, therefore, invites sealed proposals from eligible Consultants for the development, experimentation and proof of concept for Central Bank Digital Currency in Malawi.
2. Bidding will be conducted in accordance with the open tender bidding procedures as contained in the Government of Malawi’s Public Procurement Act 2017 and is open to all interested bidders.
3. Eligible interested bidders may obtain further information and inspect the Bidding Documents from the Procurement Section at the address shown in 6(a) below from 08:00 to 11:30 and 14:00 to 16:00 hours from Monday to Friday, except public holidays.
4. A complete set of Bidding Documents in English may be accessed for free by interested bidders from the address shown in 6 (a) below.
5. Bids clearly marked: “Engagement of a consultant to facilitate the development, experimentation and proof of concept for Central Bank Digital Currency in Malawi” should be delivered to the address shown in 6 (b) below on or before 8th October, 2024 at 10:00 hours. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders or their representatives who may choose to attend at the address shown in 6 (c) below on 8 October 2024 at 10:00 Hours.
