CONSTRUCTION OF SWIMMING POOL AND CHANGING ROOMS AT MPALE CULTURAL VILLAGE IN MANGOCHI DISTRICT

1. Malawi Catering Services Limited (MCSL) manage and operate Mpale Cultural Village in Mangochi on concession arrangement with Ministry of Tourism. The concession includes the maintenance and expansion of cultural village facilities.

Mpale Cultural Village is a business aimed at preserving and promoting Malawi’s Cultural heritage and tourism. The cultural village showcases Yao Culture through a Museum and Amphitheatre for traditional dances. Besides, the cultural village also has a section for hospitality which has rooms, a bar and a restaurant to support operations of the cultural village. However, it has become necessary that the facility go through some development through construction of a swimming pool and expansion of catering in Phase 1 and additional conference in order to achieve this, the Consultant is expected to carry out design drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and construction supervision of the swimming pool and kitchen to be implemented based on the defined detailed design and contract agreement with the successful contractor.

2. Malawi Catering Services Limited now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the Construction of Swimming Pool and
Changing Rooms at Mpale Cultural Village in Mangochi District and the scope of the works is detailed below:

Construction of Changing Rooms and Swimming Pool at Mpale Cultural Village in Mangochi, Malawi.

Changing Rooms
The structure is constructed generally of concrete beams, columns, slabs, walls and footings, hollow concrete blocks filled with weak concrete in walls, grass thatch roof on blue gum, poles, timber doors, metal door frames, aluminium doors and windows, plastered and painted, tiled walls internally, plastered and painted walls externally, porcelain tiles on screeded floors, sanitary fittings, joinery fittings, plumbing and electrical services.
Total gross floor area is 85m’.

Swimming Pool
The structure is constructed generally of concrete beams, columns, slabs and footings, hollow concrete blocks filled with weak concrete in walls, plastered and waterproofed walls internally, mosaic pool tiles, terracotta tiles, mechanical and electrical services.
Total gross floor area is 90m’.

3. Bidding will be conducted through National Competitive Bidding (NCB) procedures and in full compliance with the provisions of Malawi’s Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act No. 27 of 2017 and its Subsidiary Legislations. Bidding is open to all bidders as defined in the Bidding Document.

4. Eligible interested bidders may obtain further information and inspect the Bidding Document from the Procurement and Disposal Unit at the address given in 7(a) below from 08:30 to 16:00 hours local time (Monday to Friday) except on national public holidays.

5. A complete set of Bidding Documents in English language may be purchased by interested bidders at 7(b) upon payment of non-refundable fee of K20,000.00 (Twenty Thousand Kwacha only) in cash or bank certified cheque.

6. Sealed Bids marked ‘Construction of Swimming Pool and Changing Rooms at Mpale Cultural Village in Mangochi District’ together with the Procurement Reference Number should be deposited in the Tender B0x on or before Friday, 14th August, 2024 at 14:30 hours local time. Electronic bidding will not be permitted and late bids shall be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders’ representatives who choose to attend at the address given in 7(c) below at 14:30 hours local time on Friday, 14th August, 2024.
