Alliance One Tobacco (Malawi) is seeking applications for the position of

WAGES CLERK

The successful applicant will be reporting to the Wages Accountant.

Key responsibilities include:

• Updating personnel data master file in the payroll system
• Receives personnel days worked and imports into Sage payroll system and updates payroll deductions by category and ensures that no one has negative net pay after deductions
• Runs payroll reports for approval, prepares list for bank transfer payments and generating cheque requisition for cash payments
• Liaises with the banks to manage wages pay outs to company’s outside stations
• Prepares monthly posting summaries
• Attends to queries from employees arising after pay
• Performing other duties as assigned by management from time to time

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant Diploma in Accountancy or equivalent with at least five years post qualification experience
• Experience in a busy accounting office
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Sage Payroll ,SAP and Microsoft Excel
• Self-starter and able to work under pressure with minimum supervision, including weekends when necessary.
• Diligent, responsible, trustworthy, and of sober habits
