About the role
BURN is seeking to hire a Territory Sales Manager to assist in actualizing our market expansion plans. The successful candidate will work closely with BURN’s management team to assist in the formation of a stable and profitable operation in the region.
The position has four core responsibilities, as well as several additional responsibilities that will evolve throughout the position in line with the country’s strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for Team leaders and agents in the assigned province to drive quality sales as per the set forecast.
- Communicate to agents and customers on Company policies and procedures.
- Stock management: stocks with agents specifically to minimize loss.
- Reporting on key activities in the field: sales, financial reconciliation, data entry by agents, stock levels, verification, and creditability of data.
- Training team leaders, agents, and customers on the relevant business procedures.
- Sales target management including team leader and agent recruitment.
- Work closely with warehouse officers and logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of products to the sales agents.
- Identify and develop new distribution partnerships targeting wholesalers, retailers, financial institutions, corporations, government institutions, and NGOs.
- Regional performance reporting including team performance to target.
- Gather critical market information on the improved cookstove sector, BURN’s distribution partners, competitor activity, and other key areas of the market.
- Market visits and travel as required by the business.
- Other assigned tasks as per the business requirements.
Skills and Experience
- 1st degree, preferably in business, market intelligence, or marketing
- 1+ years of experience in project management and demonstrated ability to coordinate complex projects with many stakeholders to deliver results on time
- Knowledge of the sales and marketing fields in the Malawi context, preferably in consumer durables and/or fast-moving consumer goods
- Strong analytic/number-crunching background, particularly with sales and marketing data
- High level of comfort working with high-level business clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, a desire to ‘sell for good’ and willing to get your “hands dirty”.
- Experience in sales & developing business strategy and sales plan
- Experience in managing diverse teams in distribution, sales & activations
- Experience in identifying and developing B2B distribution partnerships & B2C structures in Malawi.
- Experience managing key accounts across a range of distribution channels
- Experience in using Microsoft Excel
- Proven experience managing a budget
