Emmanuel International (EI) is a local NGO in Malawi, currently with active presence in 19 districts. Emmanuel International started its operations as an NGO in the Country in 1987. EI exists to encourage, strengthen, and assist local community structures to meet the holistic needs of the poorest of the poor in their local context. Since its inception, E.I. has built on and strengthened its capacities to reach vulnerable populations in Malawi with effective programming in the areas of Capacity building of local structures, Health care management, Food and Nutrition Security, MCHN, WASH, Education, SRHR, Gender Equality, Women Economic Empowerment, Climate Change Management, Emergency humanitarian response and HIV/AIDS among others. EI Malawi focuses on provision of last mile services that respond to the needs of the vulnerable groups, the youth, women, girls, people with disability, ultra-poor and the elderly.

In anticipation of an upcoming USAID-funded PMI Case Management and Social Behavior Change Project, Emmauel International seeks to recruit for the key positions below. Therefore, the positions are subject to award being made to EI and donor approval.  The PMI Case Management and Social Behavior Change Project will seek to increase access to, demand for, utilization of, quality of, and satisfaction with malaria services and preventive measures.

Technical Lead – (Malaria Case Management, SBC and Capacity Building) (1 Post) – Based in Lilongwe

Job Summary:

The Technical Lead will be responsible for providing technical expertise in malaria case management, SBC and capacity building program design and implementation, ensuring alignment with Emmanuel International’s quality standards, MoH regulations, donor guidelines, and best practices. The role involves offering guidance to technical teams to enhance the integration, collaboration and youth
engagement of the USAID-funded malaria project to increase impact of the interventions.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides strategic, technical, and programmatic directions to the project teams through periodic reviews to ensure adherence to PMI technical guidance and global best practices.
  • Leads the overall technical management of the program by offering expert guidance in malaria case management, social behaviour change, and capacity building of service delivery
    systems.
  • Assumes supervisory and advisory role to the technical specialists and the Chief of Party on technical matters.
  • Effectively engages partners, donors, and government in all implementation processes at all times.
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Party to ensure that the project is implemented in compliance with the National Malaria Strategic plan, Policies, Guidelines, as well as donor expectations.
  • Monitors implementation of the project workplan ensuring timely completion of activities and achievement of set targets
  • Liaises with the MoH, district teams and maintain regular reporting linkages and representation with the USAID/ Malawi Mission and other stakeholders at national level.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with donors, implementing partners, the Malawi Government, research and other relevant institutions through participation in malaria fora
    to collect and share best practices and promote EI’s work in this these industries.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Applicants must be holders of at least a BSc. in Public Health, Clinical Medicine or any related field.
  • At least 5 years experience working with USAID and PMI-funded health projects.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in senior technical leadership designing, implementing and evaluating malaria programs collaborating closely with the National Malaria Control Program.
  • Demonstrable experience of integration, youth engagement, SBC, collaboration and private sector engagement in malaria programming is a MUST.
  • Ability to develop and implement dynamic working partnerships and relationships with all stakeholders, including civil society organizations (CSOs), service providers, communities and
    government agencies.
  • Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information and budget management systems, knowledge-sharing networks.

NB: Possession of a Masters Degree in a relevant required field compensates for 3 years of experience.

  • Excellent supervisory and mentorship skills to accomplish team and capacity building of staff currently working under malaria and nutrition programs at Emmanuel International.
