Butterfly Foundation for Peace

The Butterfly Foundation for Peace is inviting applications for the position of Teacher, aimed at compassionate and skilled individuals interested in making a positive impact. The chosen candidate will be responsible for thoughtfully planning, organizing, and implementing an enriching educational program that promotes the academic, social, and emotional growth of the children we serve. This role is crucial in creating a supportive learning environment that nurtures every child’s potential.

POSITION: TEACHER

Location: Blantyre

Reports to: The Administrator Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging lessons tailored to meet the diverse educational needs of our students.
  • Assess student progress, offering constructive feedback and adjusting teaching methods to suit various learning styles.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that prioritizes the emotional well-being of all students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create and implement educational and enrichment activities that enhance learning experiences.
  • Develop educational materials and resources that accommodate different learning abilities.
  • Support after-school tutoring programs and extracurricular activities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of student attendance, performance, and development.
  • Engage with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to address individual student needs and progress.
  • Assist in tracking and reporting student progress to the Administrator Assistant and relevant partners.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and professional development opportunities to further enhance teaching skills.
  • Monitor and support students’ progress both in school and at home.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a certificate or diploma in Education or a related field; a degree in Education is highly desirable.
  • At least 1 year of teaching experience, preferably with children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage classrooms and cultivate a nurturing atmosphere.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • A deep commitment to supporting vulnerable children and making a lasting difference in their lives.

  • Local Partners: Blantyre Education Office, Blantyre Social Welfare, Blantyre City Council, Malawi Police, and Child Protective Officer.
  • International Partners: Holistic Life Foundation (U.S.), Bradford West Rotary Club (U.K.), Rotary Club of Limbe (Malawi).
