Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is a non-profit, independent international humanitarian organization committed to delivering medical aid to populations facing crises, with a steadfast commitment to impartiality and without regard to race, religion, creed, or political affiliation. In Malawi, MSF works closely with the Ministry of Health and local communities, focusing on the Cervical Cancer project in Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts, as well as the CBO Project in Zalewa and Dedza districts. The CBO project run by MSF France supports two Community Based Organizations —one in Zalewa, Neno District, and another in Dedza District—to enhance sex workers’ access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services.

STOREKEEPER – 1 POSITION
Workplace : Storekeeper based in Blantyre
Type of contract : 6 months Fixed Term Contract with the possibility of extension
Start date : January 2025
Main purpose of the position
Executing the stock management activities (receipt, storage, and issuance to projects or other departments of medical supplies, food items, spare parts, tools, equipment and/ or other logistics materials), according to the line manager’s instructions and MSF standards and protocols, in order to ensure the overall functioning of MSF activities.
Accountabilities
- Overseeing the ordering and dispatch of materials and goods to ensure their efficient and appropriate use
- Receiving orders and deliveries, identifying and reporting potential discrepancies against cargo manifest or others.
- Store materials in accordance with the system in force in order to ensure continuous availability.
- Ensuring materials are stored according to the established system to maintain continuous availability, while ensuring all items are properly organized, securely stored, clearly labeled, well-protected, and easily accessible (maintaining cleanliness, security, and accessibility).
- Checking the received cold boxes and controlling the cold chain-monitoring card.
- Monitoring the store temperature and ensuring Cold Chain items are stored in an adequate temperature.
- Keeping a special control of “sensitive” goods: numbers of lots, expiry dates, packaging and special storage conditions.
- Preparing orders on time before sending goods, and packs (according to transport means) weighs and labels freight with corresponding shipping number, destination, number of shipping units, waybill number, weight and mode of transport in accordance with the line manager’s instructions.
- In conjunction with the line manager, performing physical stock counts in accordance with the frequency previously defined.
- Following up stock levels with regards to alarms thresholds, stock out and expiry dates.
- Controlling warehouse limited access to authorized personnel and ensuring doors and other exits are secured. Immediately informing the line manager of any problems arising in the course of the work, particularly regarding damage, loss, attempted break-ins or theft in the warehouse.
- Assisting the line manager with preparation of the stock reports.
Specific Accountabilities
- Encoding warehouse data in unifiled.
- Responsible for physical reception of goods in the warehouse.
- Managing stock levels in the warehouse and ensure it matches Unifield records.
- Dispatching items to requester.
- Updating stock cards and ensure that all items have labels including description and codes.
- Fueling project vehicles and generators on weekly basis and updating records in fuel register books.
- Providing regular reports on stock levels and any discrepancies.
Requirements
Education Diploma in warehouse management, supply chain or related studies Experience Minimum 1 years’ work experience as storekeeper desirable. Languages English and Chichewa Knowledge Essential basic mathematics and use of measuring equipment Desirable computer literacy (word, excel) Competencies Commitment to MSF principles, Teamwork and cooperation, Behavioural Flexibility, Results, and Quality Oriented, & Stress Management.
