Butterfly Foundation for Peace is actively seeking a compassionate and dedicated social worker to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing essential support services to children, addressing their social, emotional, and behavioral needs. This position requires close collaboration with children, their families, and various stakeholders to promote the well-being and successful integration of these individuals into the community.

SOCIAL WORKER

Location: Blantyre

Reports to: Administrator Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer individualized counseling and support to children, assisting them in navigating social, emotional, and behavioral changes.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify the specific needs of each child and develop tailored care plans.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s care.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children both within our organization and in broader forums.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with community partners, including schools, healthcare providers, and local authorities.
  • Assist in facilitating family reunification or exploring long-term placement solutions when necessary.
  • Organize and lead therapeutic group sessions, workshops, or activities that encourage social healing and development.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all casework, progress reports, and communications with partners and external agencies.
  • Monitor children’s progress in after-school programs and communicate any significant developments to the country director.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed and address immediate safety concerns for the children.
  • Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to ensure a unified approach to meeting the children’s needs.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a certificate or diploma in Social Work or a related field.
  • A degree in Social Work would be considered an additional asset.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with children, preferably from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with both children and adults in diverse contexts.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • A sincere passion for supporting vulnerable children and contributing to meaningful change in their lives.
