The Lilongwe Academy now invites applications from Candidates who meet the qualifications and experience as follows:

Position: SMS Programs and Applications Officer (tenable Lilongwe)
Availability of the position: 25th November, 2024.

Specific Duties:
Among other duties the successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties:

  • Coordinate and oversee ICT projects and initiatives from inception through completion, ensuring alignment with TLAIS’s educational objectives and strategic plans.
  • Define user needs and technical requirements for ICT systems and devices, aligning them with school objectives and user functionality.
  • Develop user – friendly manuals, technical guides, and documentation to support the effective use and understanding of ICT systems.
  • Conduct training sessions, fostering an inclusive approach to technology adoption.
  • Manage the school’s website and intranet to ensure seamless access to information, resources, and communication tools.
  • Develop and implement protocols for testing ICT systems, ensuring
    functionality, security, and efficiency through regular and thorough testing processes.
  • Train and provide ongoing support to staff and students in the use of ICT systems and devices, promoting best practices and efficient use.
  • Perform routine and ad-hoc data backups to safeguard critical information and ensure data continuity.
  • Write and generate routine and on-demand reports to meet the school’s operational and strategic needs, providing data insights as required.
  • Take lead responsibility for the design, development, and maintenance of the school’s website to ensure an engaging and user-friendly experience.
  • Advise management on the acquisition and procurement of ICT systems and devices, contributing to informed decision-making regarding technology investments.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and stakeholders to ensure the timely and effective delivery of ICT resources and services.
  • Oversee and maintain databases and repositories, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility.
  • Research new ICT programs, trends, and initiatives, submitting applications for programs that enhance the school’s technology ecosystem.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Education with a technology focus, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing educational or student information systems or any information system.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in data management and reporting software.
  • Proficiency in languages commonly used for system development, such as Java, C++, Python, and C#.
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and security.
  • Understanding of databases (SQL, NoSQL).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of data protection laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Self-motivated, team player, innovative and result oriented.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse school community.
  • High levels of integrity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
