SHEQ Manager

Helios Towers is a leading independent telecommunications infrastructure company, having established one of the most extensive tower portfolios across Africa. It builds, owns and operates telecom passive infrastructure, providing services to mobile network operators. Helios Towers currently operates in 8 markets in Africa and Oman in the Middle East.

Overview

The OpCo SHEQ Manager will be an integral part of the Executive team with joint responsibility for the implementation and facilitation of the Helios Towers Malawi SHEQ Strategy throughout their business unit. The SHEQ Manager should be able to form strong relationships with leadership team, mentoring and positively influencing their engagement with the HT program of continuous improvement and risk management. The OpCo SHEQ Manager should be able to deliver Group SHEQ strategies, initiatives and campaigns throughout their business unit and into their supply chain partners in a timely independent and self-sustained manner.

The role is based in Lilongwe, Malawi. 

Key Role Responsibilities:

Operational Delivery

• Providing leadership, mentoring, guidance and support to members of the SHEQ team with their OpCo and Supply Chain Partners.
• Forming strong relationships with the OpCo and Supply Chain Partners Leadership to ensure strong engagement and compliance with HT SHEQ strategies, initiatives and campaigns.
• Ensuring all group reporting is produced in a timely and accurate manner and that this is interpreted to highlight all areas requiring attention, recognition and intervention.
• Ensure that all Supply Chain Partners are effectively assessed for their levels of SHEQ compliance against HT expectations and performance manage any gaps that may arise.
• Provide leadership in emergency and crisis situations undertaking investigations where scheduled or required, effectively identifying root causes and making robust recommendations for corrective and preventative action.

Requirements for the Role

• Degree level qualification in either Safety, Environment, Engineering, Sciences or closely related field
• Preferably 10+ years of industrial SHEQ experience with 7+ years in SHEQ management.
• Experience of working as a leader within a matrix style organization, effectively influencing OpCo, and contracted partner organizations
• NEBOSH International General Certificate (or equivalent)

• Strong understanding of MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
• Strong interpersonal/influencing skills
