Lotus (Africa) Limited is a leading Africa-focused advanced uranium company with significant scale and resources. The Company holds an 85% interest in the Kayerekera Uranium Project in Karonga, Malawi.

Lotus will be undertaking refurbishment and maintenance of the process plant and other facilities in preparation for production set to commence in the near future.
Lotus (Africa) Limited invites applications from suitably qualified energetic and self-motivated male or female Malawian nationals to join its team on a six months’ fixed term contract at Kayelekera Mine in Karonga District in the position below:
Security Supervisor (Required – 2)
POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of this role is to support the Security Operations Officer and Security Manger in the effective and efficient operation of the Security Department at Kayelekera Mine.
REPORTING TO THE SECURITY MANAGER, THE ROLE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Report all security & CCTV related matters & problems to the Plant Security Superintendent OR Security Manager.
- Fully comply with Voluntary Principles (VPs) on Human Rights and the Use of Force.
- Operate and maintain all Paladin Mine CCTV operating systems including monitors, cameras, recorders, UPS systems.
- Conduct daily checks of external and internal operating systems.
- Report and record in a daily log all security breaches and suspicious activities in accordance with Lotus Mine security procedures.
- Conduct a thorough shift handover brief.
- Actively participate in training activities to gain new skills, develop full potential and assume increasing accountability.
- Be proactive in all aspects of Security to prevent and eliminate theft and fraud.
- Attend regular security meetings.
- Operate CCTV system in order to maintain integrity of the Process Plant security fence and all assets within the plant; to eliminate intrusion or theft of company property.
- Identify and report immediately any breaches of Plant security procedures or any suspicious activity.
- Responsible and accountable for ensuring that non-compliance with procedures is reported to management without delay.
- Responsible and accountable for maintaining, communicating and archiving all surveillance related reports.
- Produce a weekly incident report detailing all instances of non-compliance to the Security Operations Officer or Security Manager as directed.
- Ensure written reports are produced without delay regarding non-compliance or incidents classified as a major breach of security, which involves damage to mine property or is a risk to safety, to the Security Operations Officer or Security Manager as directed.
- Shall ensure that an updated surveillance manual is held within the surveillance room.
- Ensure relief is operating to TTP’s, SOP’s and orders.
- Carry out any other duties as required or directed by the Security Operations Officer or Security Manager.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum completion of Secondary School education – Form 4
- Minimum 2 – 4 years working as a CCTV Security professional
- Valid light vehicle driver’s license
- Understanding of the Malawian Law and legal process
- Experience working in a mining and uranium processing environment
