Join Our Mission as a Regional Humanitarian Manager (RHM) supporting our Southern Africa Region.
Are you passionate about leading impactful humanitarian responses and shaping the future of humanitarian action? CARE is seeking a dynamic and experienced Regional Humanitarian Manager (RHM) to take a pivotal role in driving locally led, gender-equal responses to humanitarian crises across the region.
Why This Role Matters:
As RHM, you will lead CARE’s humanitarian efforts in the region, ensuring we are ready to respond swiftly and effectively when crises arise. You will collaborate with CARE’s global network, coordinate with key stakeholders, and represent CARE in regional forums to drive advocacy and innovation in humanitarian action.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead Humanitarian Responses: Deploy as the first responder to crises, providing on-the-ground leadership and coordination for up to three months, ensuring seamless start-up and impactful delivery.
- Shape Regional Strategy: Develop and execute a visionary humanitarian strategy aligned with CARE’s mission, focusing on gender equality, localization, and reaching the most vulnerable populations.
- Enhance Preparedness and Capacity: Empower country teams to implement robust emergency preparedness plans and foster a culture of learning and innovation.
- Build Partnerships: Represent CARE in regional platforms, strengthening relationships with donors, UN agencies, governments, and peers to expand CARE’s humanitarian reach.
Who You Are:
- A strategic thinker with a Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) and 8-10 years of humanitarian expertise, including program design, emergency response, and risk reduction who possesses the ability to design and implement humanitarian strategies that align with both local and global goals.
- A champion for gender equality and localization, with experience in implementing humanitarian accountability and empowering women in emergencies.
- An excellent communicator with proven ability to engage donors, UN agencies, and other stakeholders at a high level. You must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English.
- A collaborative innovator who thrives in dynamic environments, embraces challenges, and is committed to driving transformative impact. Strong experience in external representation, working with key humanitarian stakeholders, donors and INGO’s
- A natural leader with proven ability to lead mid to large-scale emergency responses, with a focus on gender equality and accountability in humanitarian programs.
