RECONCILIATIONS MANAGER
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the incumbent manages overall reconciliations of the bank to ensure integrity of financial records, reduction in errors, and detection of fraud.
Key Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:
- Manage reconciliation of general ledger accounts
- Manage reconciliation of all Nostro accounts.
- Manage unclaimed balances accounts
- Manage reconciliation of suspense accounts (Malawi Kwacha), i.e., RBM, Treasury settlements, interbranch, unclaimed balances, and cheque accounts, among others.
- Resolution of outstanding items in suspense accounts.
- Manage and develop the reconciliations team to ensure a professional, empowered, and self-motivated group of personnel who work collaboratively to achieve the objective division.
- Review the implementation of action plans derived from assurance players and ensure that issues are closed and timely.
- Review business processes and workflows aimed at eliminating non-value-adding activities and make necessary recommendations for improvements.
- Revenue assurance: validate income and ensure that revenue leakages are identified and sealed.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills/Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accountancy, business administration, or any other relevant field from a recognized and accredited university.
- Professional qualifications in accounting, e.g., ACCA or CIMA
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in finance management or auditing at manager level in a financial services sector.
- Thorough knowledge of banking operations.
- Experience in reconciliations or auditing in the financial services sectors
