VACANCY-RECEPTIONIST
St John of God College of Health Sciences is an integral part of Saint John of God Hospitaller Services Malawi. The College provides university-level training in Bachelor of Science in Mental Health-Psychiatric Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine (Mental Health), Bachelor of Science in Nursing & Midwifery, Bachelor of Science in Psychotherapy, and Diploma in Clinical Medicine. The institution is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the post of Receptionist in the College.
The position
Reporting to the College Registrar, the Receptionist will, among other things, provide a high-quality reception service for all visitors to the college, staff, and learners and follow the reception procedures to ensure the smooth running of the College.
Responsibilities (which include, but are not limited to):
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive culture that embeds the College’s values and beliefs, and ensures that students and staff feel valued, safe and supported
- Take appropriate measures to safeguard young people and promote their welfare and actively promote equality and diversity in the College
- Provide excellent customer service to ensure that students, staff, and visitors receive the best possible impression of the College
- Ensure the security of the College building so that only authorised personnel access the computer laboratory, staff offices and teaching rooms.
- Receive, address, and seek to resolve all initial inquiries from students, staff, conference guests, visitors, and others, with referral to other College departments as appropriate.
- Be the central reception point for postal and courier deliveries, sorting and collection of posts and parcels, taking and passing on urgent messages and telephone calls, and reporting room defects to relevant parties.
- Work closely with the Security and Safety teams to help ensure the health and safety of those in the building
Requirements
- Diploma in Secretarial Studies, Business Administration, Business Management, or related qualification
- Malawi School Certificate of Education with six credits including English.
- Minimum of three years post-qualification experience in a busy organization Be fully conversant with MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mails.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Chichewa or Tumbuka.
- Ability to operate office electronic machines such as photocopiers, printers, laminating machines, and others.
- Willingness to work with mentally challenged people and children with disability and their families
- Strict adherence to the organization’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy
