Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Malawi

Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Malawi is a locally registered NGO that has been operating in Malawi since 1995. Our mission is to work with the communities by promoting social and economic development through health, education training, food security and environmental programs. Our work in development is guided by social cohesion and respect for humanity, implemented through innovative and cost-effective programs. Through a variety of development models, DAPP complements the government’s effort in implementing the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy II.

DAPP Malawi is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for the positions listed below for the USAID funded ENABEL project that aims at improving learning outcomes and the socio-emotional development of children in Africa and Malawi in particular by having a more competent, motivated and inclusive teacher workforce. The project’s specific objective will be to enhance teachers’ capabilities for improved learning outcomes and socio-emotional development of children in targeted primary schools of Dowa District, focusing on improving foundational learning.

Job Summary/ Responsibilities

The Project Leader will provide the overall leadership and coordination to project implementation including planning, budgeting, scheduling, organizing, record-keeping and handling information flow. He/she will work closely with DAPP Education Sector office in liaison with the Government responsible department.

Key Performance Areas

  • Lead the project implementation including planning, budgeting, scheduling, organizing, record-keeping and handling information flow
  • Supervise all the activities being implemented in all the implementing primary schools in Dowa District.
  • Collaborate and liaise with all the stake holders both at school and district levels for successful activity implementation.
  • Provide training, mentorship and support to the projects including primary school teachers
  • Conduct field visits
  • Ensure that there is quality data collection and documentation by all at all times
  • Coordinate with the project Monitoring & Evaluation Officer to oversee routine data collection across the project activities in all primary schools in Dowa districts.
  • Timely reports writing and sharing with your supervision for final submission to the donor and all line stakeholders
  • In collaboration with the DAPP Human Resource Manager and your supervisor ensure that all HR issues will be attended to in a timely manner – following DAPP’s HR procedures and that your supervisor (The Project Coordinator) is updated accordingly.
  • Prepare for monthly meetings and ad hoc meetings when necessary for sharing staff performance issues with your supervisor in order to handle staff performance and staff discipline professionally.

Qualifications, Experience and attributes

  • A minimum of Bachelors degree of Education or its equivalent
  • Must have experience in driving a motorcycle and in possession of a valid motorcycle driving license
  • A team player who is able to demonstrate ability to collaborate with many people
  • Preference will be to applicants who successfully worked with/in DAPP Trio System in primary schools
  • Demonstrated written, presentation, communication and organizational skills in English
