About Girls Not Brides Malawi National Partnership
Girls Not Brides Malawi National Partnership exists as a network of non–state actors competent to influence systemic change to end child marriage through the promotion of equality, human rights and child protection frameworks, monitoring the implementation and their alignment to international and Regional Instruments and national laws and policies.
Girls Not Brides Malawi National Partnership is a membership of over 90 civil society organizations working to end child marriage in Malawi. It is an affiliate of Girls Not Brides: The Global Partnership to End Child Marriage. The membership is diverse with CSOs comprising of Women-led, Youth-led, Community-based, international and research institutions drawn together by a specific interest in representing the voices of girls and young women to influence policy processes.
Introduction to the Programme Officer Role
The programme officer will play a critical role in managing and strengthening collective efforts of Girls Not Brides Malawi National Partnership. In collaboration with the Girls Not Brides Malawi National Partnership Secretariat and the Girls Not Brides Africa Team, the officer will support the implementation of the Girls Not Brides Malawi National Strategy for the country with a key focus on supporting movement Building and Advocacy.
Job Location: Lilongwe, Malawi
Key Responsibilities
- Overall coordination of the National Partnership
- Strengthening a collective movement to accelerate change to End Child Marriage
- Integrate learning and evidence within the National Partnership
- Ensures that internal databases and monitoring information are kept fully up-to-date.
- Leads and amplifies voices of young people in advocacy spaces at national level to addressthe issue of Child Marriage
Experience Required
- A Degree in Social Science, Human Rights, Gender, Public Health or Development Studies, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience of organizing training and workshops is required · Direct experience of working on advocacy initiatives.
Requirements
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work with adiverse range of actors from different cultural contexts in the country.
- A sound understanding of the policy and advocacy dynamics around gender and/or youthand child rights in a national context is essential. An understanding of the international context would be advantageous.
- Strong project management skills.
Duration: Initially one year with the possibility of extension
