The Global Health Informatics Institute (GHII) is a non-profit organization working at the intersection of science, engineering and global health to address problems of global health importance through development of local solutions and capacity (https://www.ghii.org). GHII in collaboration with Neotree Charity and University College London is implementing a UK Foreign, Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) funded project, Neotree. Neotree is an innovative digital learning health system, developed in partnership with, and for, nurses and doctors, empowering them to deliver high-quality neonatal care.

We are looking for suitably qualified, passionate, hardworking and enthusiastic individuals to fill the position of Product Owner for the Neotree Project.

Position: Product Owner (Grade 11)

Purpose: The Product Owner will support and deliver on the integration of Neotree with national databases and digital health platforms, such as the DHISv2 and the national Health Information System, as well as

The Product Owner must exhibit a high level of integrity and confidentiality [Essential] supporting the quality review and assurance of Neotree data, and supporting the development of other technical functionalities for the Neotree system. The product owner will be working closely with the Senior Product Manager, software development team in Zimbabwe and South Africa, the implementation team at GHII in Malawi, and project teams at UCL and Neotree Charity. The product owner will also liaise and work closely with members of the Digital Health DIrectorate in Malawi and other digital health stakeholders.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Liaise with other digital health stakeholders on the integration of Neotree functionality or data pipeline.
  • Support the roll out and testing of integrated functionalities.
  • Monitor quality and integrity of Neotree data collected from implementation sites
  • Provide technical assistance in accessing and using Neotree data
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other research materials for internal and external meetings
  • Liaise with the Digital Health Directorate in Malawi on understanding national databases and digital health platforms for integration with Neotree, including attending meetings and workshops, mapping of data, refining software requirements etc.
  • Liaise with the Neotree software development team
  • Manage the Jira board for optimisation of Neotree functionality within Malawi
  • Oversee change management for the Neotree application including software integration, developing processes for quality assurance, data integrity, security, data review and validation.
  • Support the development of key functionality within the Neotree platform to improve data linkage across a network of sites.
  • Support the development of key functionality within the Neotree platform in Malawi from lessons learned in Zimbabwe.
  • Support development of implementation and training resources, including training manual, user guides, etc.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science . Statistics, software engineering or a related field.
  • 3 years Experience and working within the Health system will be an added advantage

Personal Attributes and Skills

  • Proficiency in data management tools and knowledge of data visualization and analysis platforms
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience with data structures and algorithms
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Proven track record of product development and implementation, preferably in a healthcare
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with an ability to think through all the different implications of decisions
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, multi-disciplinary team High level of integrity and confidentiality.
