The Government Health Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians, serving or non-serving, depending on the requirements of the post, for the following vacancies, existing under the establishment of the Ministry of Health:

Post: Pharmacy Technician

Grade: HK

Salary: Within Grade K Government Salary Segment

Location: HIV, Hepatitis and STI Directorate

Qualifications:

Applicants must be in possession of Diploma in Pharmacy from recognised institutions and must be registered with Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA).

Duties:

  • Lead the forecasting and Quantification of HIV Program commodities including Test kits, ARVs, Viral load, Condoms, and other related Diagnostics, laboratory supplies consumables, and other HIV related commodities.
  • Participate and provide technical expertise in development, updating, and implementation of strategic plans, policies, guidelines, and job aids for the National HIV, STIS and Viral Hepatitis programs.
  • Participate in development of Grant proposals for various Development partners.
  • Provide Technical support and participates in supervision and mentorship, data quality review and analysis of TB/HIV data for program decisions.
  • The Liaison officer for the Directorate of HIV, STIs and Viral Hepatitis and Pharmacy Medicines and Regulatory Authority (PMRA) on issues pertaining to regulation, licensing, compliance and import of Pharmaceuticals, and Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) for Tax clearance of HIV related importation.
  • Lead person for pharmacovigilance-related activities including tools development, dissemination to facilities, support monitoring, reporting and follow-up with the Pharmacy Medicines and Regulatory Authority (PMRA).
  • The Liaison officer for the Directorate of HIV, STIS and Health to Technical Support services (HTSS-Pharmaceuticals) coordinate SOP development and dissemination for health products, training on stock management, inventory control, and monitoring of pharmaceuticals at health facilities.
  • Technical lead in procurement planning, pipeline management and supply chain management functions of the Directorate of HIV, STIs and Viral Hepatitis
  • Lead the warehousing and distribution activities at the designated central Level warehouse and stock monitoring and management at both central and health facility level.
  • Design and lead HIV Supply Chain Capacity building functions including preparation of stock management training materials, organizing venues, and associated logistics for the HIV program teams as they build capacity in commodity management practices.
  • Lead bimonthly physical inventory counting and reconciliation of all HIV commodities at the central warehouse.
  • Lead the supply chain team in daily management of the stock at health facilities using the HIV Supply Chain Toll-Free lines.
  • Support supply chain initiatives such as Interoperability, linkage of systems, data visibility and management.
