CCAP Nkhoma Synod Health Department invites applications from suitably qualified and well experienced applicants for the position of Pharmacist tenable at Nkhoma Mission Hospital. The Pharmacist position is offered on a permanent basis.

PHARMACIST – GRADE I

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Receiving orders from the Main Hospital departments and its health centres.
  2. Ensuring that all drugs and medical supplies are available in all departments and health centres.
  3. Managing Pharmaceutical inventory at the Hospital warehouse, and dispensary in co-operation with Pharmacy staff and other relevant officers.
  4. Ensuring that all Pharmaceuticals and medical supplies are stored appropriately and in accordance with manufactures’ or suppliers’ storage specifications
  5. Distributing donated drugs and medical supplies from development partners to all targeted destinations.
  6. Developing Standard Operating Procedures for the Hospital pharmacy warehouse, drug store, dispensary and health centre pharmacy facilities.
  7. Developing Standard Operating Procedures for the Hospital pharmacy warehouse, drug store, dispensary and health centre pharmacy facilities.
  8. Training staff on the job in the Hospital and health centres (eg pharmaceuticals management, rational use of drugs etc.) especially those without any formal pharmacy training.
  9. Planning and preparing monthly and annual drug budget for the hospital and health centres.
  10. Making monthly/weekly drug and pharmaceutical supplies’ orders and submitting the same to the procurement office.
  11. Participating in the process of procurement of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies.
  12. Making sure that the utilization rate of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies is submitted to the relevant authorities for decision making.
  13. Checking prescriptions and advising patients on how to take and store medicines correctly
  14. Establishing and revising the Hospital formulary, and ensuring that all providers are following Nkhoma Hospital and National treatment guidelines.
  15. Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES

  1. Applicants should have a Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized training Institution.
  2. Must be registered with Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA).
  3. Must have a minimum of two years’ work experience in the field.
