VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: PEER EDUCATORS (VOLUNTEERS)

Location: All T/As and Sub T/As in Chikwawa District.

Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Malawi is implementing an HIV Prevention project for Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW), with funding from the Global Fund through World Vision Malawi.

The project addresses the health and social vulnerabilities of AGYW by focusing on HIV prevention and awareness, improving access to health services, and combating gender-based violence. Though education, healthcare access, and support, the project aims to create a safer and healthier environment for AGYW.

We are looking for passionate girls and young women to join our team as Peer Educators.

These voluntary Positions and are available in all Traditional Authorities (T/As) and sub-T/As in Chikwawa District.

The Peers Educators will be expected to promote healthy behaviors in their peers and build support for access to integrated HIV/GBV/SRHR services. The position will also directly strengthens referral and linkage services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Administering a standardized risk assessment tool containing questions eliciting AGYW’s sexual and social risks to identify and enroll high risk AGYW and their male partners for layered services.
  2. Creating demand for integrated HIV/GBV/SRHR services in high incidence settings.
  3. Conducting risk reduction counselling sessions for at-risk AGYW on individual basis and in established AGYW clubs
  4. Distributing condoms and HIV self-test kits to at-risk AGYW and their male partners.
  5. Initiating and following up on AGYW referrals for services to completion
  6. Collecting and reporting primary data on monthly basis
  7. Maintaining Client’s confidentiality, trust and confidence
  8. Acting as a program ambassador in the communities

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Malawi School Certificate of Edication (MSCE) or higher
  • Girls and Young Women aged between 18-29 years
  • Those with volunteering experience in HIV/GBV/SRHR programs will have an added advantage
  • Resident in any of the T/As and Sub-T/A In Chikwawa District

MODE OF APPLICATION

Applicants should bring their copies of certificates and National IDs to the interviews in their ADCs. Schedule for interviews will be share. INTERVIEW WILL ON 4th October, 2024.
