Story Workshop Educational Trust (SWET) is a leading local, independent, non-profit and non-partisan development media NGO that has been operational in Malawi since 1997.

SWET uses radio, video/TV and theatre for development (TFD) and theatre for policy advocacy (TPA) to promote education, health, food security, good governance, human rights and environmental management in order to contribute towards a well-informed, healthy, self-reliant and food-secure rural population that practices democratic values.

In order to effectively realise its objectives and achieve strategic growth, SWET would like to hire highly qualified, experienced, self-motivated, team-oriented and mature individuals, who are willing to work in a busy NGO environment, to fill three vacancies as outlined below:

Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (One position)

Job Title: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (MEO)
Job Grade: SWET 3
Department: Programs
Reporting to: Head of Programs & Resource Mobilization
Positions reporting to the job: None

Overall Responsibility

Responsible for planning, developing, implementing an integrated monitoring and evaluation system for SWET programs including providing technical assistance in building capacity of the Project Officers and other SWET partners in monitoring and evaluation related activities.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Advising Head of Programs & Resource Mobilization on all matters relating to M&E
  • Developing organizational learning plans producing and disseminating organizational learning products
  • Liaising with donor agencies in developing project indicators
  • Planning, developing, implementing and reporting M&E systems in SWET
  • Providing technical assistance in all M&E information including reporting and management
  • Providing assistance in strategic planning and budgeting for all monitoring and evaluation related activities in SWET and its partners
  • Facilitating the development of data collection tools and project M&E manuals for all SWET projects
  • Organizing and conducting M& E trainings for staff and partnering agencies
  • Advising on planning of data entry and analysis
  • Advising on reporting and dissemination of base-line, mid- term and final evaluations
  • Reviewing and editing reports, success stories and other related information for public outreach
  • Assisting in the development of annual work-plans and budgets
  • Assisting partners and staff with the design of M&E
    systems for tracking progress and impact of all project activities
  • Representing SWET in all M&E fora
  • Performs other duties related to the job as assigned from time to time.

Prerequisite skills:

  • M&E design skills
  • Ability to apply qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Data management skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Training skills
  • Cross-cultural communication skills
  • Fluency in English and Chichewa
  • Computer literacy in MS office package [word, excel, Access, Power Point) and statistical packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS)

Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience of implementing or managing monitoring and evaluation programs in a local NGO or an international organization.
  • Experience in application of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.

Academic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of Bachelor of Arts Degree in any relevant field.
