Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) is a locally registered nongovernmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 to complement Government’s efforts in the fight against HIV and AlDs and other health related issues.

MACRO’s Vision is “Malawi populace free of ill-Health” and its Mission is “Transform lives of Malawians through provision of high-quality HIV and AlDS, and other health related services”.

With funding from the Embassy of the Netherlands in Maputo and through Frontline AIDS, MACRO is leading the implementation of the Resilient & Empowered Adolescents and Young-People (READY+) program in Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu targeting Young People aged 10-29 living with and most affected by HIV. The goal of the READY+ program is that Adolescents and Young People living with or most affected by HIV, especially those who are most vulnerable, are resilient, empowered, and knowledgeable and have bodily autonomy and the freedom and agency to realise their sexual and reproductive health and rights. MACRO will promote and facilitate age-appropriate disaggregated SHR, care and treatment for adolescents and young people 10-29 years, and deliver youth and economic empowerment interventions to ensure young people are resilient and well-equipped to lead fulfilled lives.

Currently applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following vacant position to be based in Lilongwe.

Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Reporting to: Monitoring and Evaluation Manager

Position Overview

The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will work closely with the READY+ program team (Program Manager and Program Officer) to oversee Monitoring and evaluation activities including management of data at program level.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Social Sciences, Monitoring and Evaluation or any related field preferred.
  • 3 years’ hands-on experience in monitoring and evaluation work in NGO setup.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of SHR, HIV/AIDS indicators

PERSON SPECIFICATION/SKILLS

  • Knowledge of computer packages-SPSS, Excel, STRATA
  • Knowledge of DHIS2 database
  • Skills in creating data base (Access/Excel)
  • Analytical and report writing skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Trouble shooting skills
  • Data management and back up
  • Familiar with SRH/HIV & GBV intervention reporting systems

Main Responsibilities

  • Support all project M&t activities including monitoring data entry ana processing to ensure data quality.
  • Track the progress of activities by monitoring indicator performance.
  • Support staff capacity building initiatives on data management, analysis and interpretation
  • support Program Manager and M&E Manager in creating a framework and procedures for the monitoring and evaluation of project activities.
  • Support the Program Manager in defining and implementing the key project performance indicators as well as monitoring them throughout the duration of the projects.
  • Assist the M&E Manager in proposing strategies to increase data use and demand amongst project staff.
  • Support project/program staff on ways to properly document, organize and capture program progress.
  • Draft M&E tools and data collection procedures under the supervision of the M&E Manager (e.g. logical framework, project performance tracking, indicators, data flow chart, and data collection forms)
  • Suggest ways to facilitating data collection and flow of data within the project team.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses in existing data collection and management systems and propose solutions along with the M&E Manager.
  • Perform regular field visits for data collection and verification
  • Analyze changes and patterns in project indicators, data performance reports to support project staff
  • Support the M&E Manager to ensure that donor, partner, and Senior Management data queries are addressed in an accurate and timely nanner.
  • Assist community partners to ensure regular, complete, accurate, timely and quality monitoring reports from health facilities on all required indicators
  • Review and analyze Quarterly, Monthly and weekly reports with the Program Manager to identify the causes of potential bottlenecks in project implementation and to enhance quality of reporting.
