CUMO Microfinance Limited is a not-for-profit rural microfinance company providing financial and non-financial services at village level. CUMO currently serves over 85,000 clients (80% are women) across 26 districts of Malawi.

In line with its growth plan, CUMO is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following position:

Job Title: MIS Officer

Nature of Contract: 3 years

Duty Station: Lilongwe

Reporting to: The MIS Manager

Job Summary:

Working closely with the MIS Manager, the MIS Officer will be responsible for proper maintenance of ICT systems and provision of required technical support to system users.

Specific Duties:

  • Managing and supporting the major systems including the domain controller, internet/email system and the entire LAN environment.
  • Installation, configuration and upgrading of software
  • Ensure anti-virus software and SUS server are up to date
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting and upgrading all computer hardware including servers, workstations, print and other peripheral equipment.
  • Implementing backup and recovery procedures
  • Maintaining database integrity by ensuring data is correctly captured and reports are produced timely.
  • Assess the adequacy of existing software systems and recommend improvement
  • Providing technical guidance in procurement and installation of computer hardware and their efficient use
  • Ensuring that the organization’s web page is regularly updated
  • Any other duties as assigned by the MIS Manager.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • A minimum of a Diploma in IT obtained from a recognized institution with three years experience working in IT field.
  • High proficiency in installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing software, hardware and computer peripherals
  • Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting LAN and domain based systems
  • Considerable experience and knowledge in installing and supporting Windows operating systems and MS Office products
  • Knowledge of current trends in information technology
  • Good analytical and communication skills
