MINISTRY OF MINING

Post: Mining Inspector of Oil and Gas (Grade I)
Salary: Within the Grade I salary scale segment
Location: Department of Mines

Qualifications:
Applicants should be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in either Petroleum Resources (Oil and Gas), or Petroleum Engineering, obtained from accredited institutions.

Duties:

  1. Assisting in the implementation of the National Petroleum (Exploration and Production) policy;
  2. Inspecting alleged oil spillages across the country;
  3. Conducting routine inspection of upstream oil and gas operations and facilities to ensure compliance with the Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Act, Industry Standards and other related regulations;
  4. Identifying and reporting any detected hazards or noncompliance issues;
  5. Collaborating with operators to resolve issues and implement corrective actions;
  6. Preparing and submitting inspection reports and recommendations;
  7. Raising awareness about upstream oil and gas sector;
  8. Facilitating stakeholder and community engagements;
  9. Facilitating collection of fees and charges from petroleum operations;
  10. Keeping and maintaining records of all activities undertaken, reports and payments made by oil and gas companies.

Note:
Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be required during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the interviews that they are permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of condition of appointment on probation (PSR 19).
