Telekom Networks Malawi Plc is expanding its merchant network across the country to ensure TNM Mpamba customers have more access points to pay for goods and services using TNM Mpamba and the following position has arisen in TNM Mpamba Limited as follows:
MERCHANT OFFICERS – 26 Positions across the country on a fixed term contract
Reporting to the Regional Merchant Coordinator for TNM Mpamba Limited, the Merchant Officer will be responsible for the recruitment and management of TNM Mpamba merchants’ network in line with the merchant business plans in the assigned markets.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify prospective partners to be recruited as merchants.
- Share value proposition for the purpose of acquiring and managing merchants.
- Conduct due diligence for all merchants and ensure relevant contractual agreements are always in place and valid.
- Ensure all merchants are on auto sweep functionality.
- Hold periodic merchant alignment meetings in assigned areas.
- Implement merchant recruitment and trade activations within approved budgets.
- Conduct continuous training of Mpamba merchants.
- Place relevant point-of-sale (POS) materials in the trade to ensure that all merchants outlets are
- adequately branded.
- Assess the condition of the point-of-sale materials in the trade and replace all outdated ones.
- Monitor wallet activities of new and existing merchants to identify gaps for correction.
- Ensure merchant activity ratio achievement is in line with business targets.
- Identify areas that need redress in the market.
- Ensure timely resolution of Mpamba Merchants queries.
- Communicate any changes on merchant service to merchants.
- Develop the Weekly Movement Plan to ensure that all merchants are visited, and market
- information is gathered.
- Support the implementation of trade activation initiatives to drive merchant activity in the markets.
Professional Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Diploma in business management/administration/marketing or related field. Those with a degree in business management/administration, marketing or related may have an added advantage.
- Minimum of two years in sales and distribution, preferably in telecommunications or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry.
Functional Skills and Attributes:
- Strong communication skills
- Self-motivated and results oriented.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Computer literate specifically Microsoft packages.
