Applications are invited from suitably qualified person of Malawi origin to fill vacant positions that emerged
at Malawi Engineering Institution (MEl) Head Office in Lilongwe. MEI was established under Section 3 of the Malawi Engineering Institution Act, sole authority for regulation engineering, the engineering profession and allied disciplines in Malawi.
To perform its functions effectively and efficiently, MEl now invites suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for the following positions:
Membership and Compliance Manager
Grade: M3
Department/Division: Membership and Compliance Department
Responsible to: Director of Registration and Compliance
Responsible for: Registration Officers
Purpose of the Job: To facilitate registration of engineering practitioners
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing compliance procedures and standards guidance for the engineering profession
- Initiating formulation and reviewing of policies, strategies work plans and budgets of the department
- Managing registration processes for engineering practitioners in the country and preparation of subsequent periodic reports
- Supervising, guiding and appraising staff under his or her charge
- Ensuring that service delivery in the division is done in accordance with laid the down registration procedures and standards
- Ensuring that the section’s resources are utilized efficiently and effectively for the furtherance of the objectives of the Institution
- Carrying out any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Required competencies and attributes
- Goal-driven, action-oriented, innovative, a self-starter and team player;
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and negotiation skills
- Good leadership and supervisory skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering plus a Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration from a recognized University
- Registration with MEl as a Graduate or a Professional Engineer
- A minimum of five (5) years’ working experience in the engineering profession
