Role Overview
Title: Marketing Designer
We are seeking a versatile and innovative UI/webI/Graphic Designer to join our team at GiveDirectly. In this role, you’ll contribute to the design of our website, web applications, print creatives, and a wide range of other assets to support our mission of driving direct giving.
This role requires a high degree of creativity, attention to detail, and project management skills. You will be tasked with creating engaging, easy-to-navigate designs that meet the needs of our diverse audience, from individual donors to large institutions. As a key player in our communications team, your designs will play a critical role in promoting our brand, driving awareness, and empowering recipients.
Reports to: VP of Product & Growth
Responsibilities
- Design Creation: Develop and enhance visual assets for our website, digital campaigns, print materials, and brand collateral. You’ll handle everything from conceptual design to final execution, ensuring a cohesive and impactful presence across all media.
- Branding & Communication: Create engaging graphics and layouts that capture and promote our brand identity. Design digital and print materials including icons, templates, reports, and presentations, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to understand design needs, gather feedback, and integrate it into your designs. Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality design solutions.
- Project Management: Balance multiple projects and deadlines, prioritizing tasks based on project requirements. Produce visually compelling solutions through wireframes, visual designs, and prototypes.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years in graphic design, marketing design, or a related field with a strong portfolio showcasing a variety of work including web, print, and digital assets.
- Skills: Proficient in Figma and other design tools. Solid understanding of design principles, visual hierarchy, and user experience. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
- Alignment: Demonstrate alignment with GiveDirectly’s values and core competencies including emotional intelligence, problem-solving, project management, and inclusivity.

Nice To Haves
- Experience in social impact or non-profit sectors.
- Familiarity with web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and experience working with development teams.
- Skills in animation or motion graphics.
- Experience designing for diverse cultural contexts.
- Portfolio demonstrating a range of design work and process explanations.
- Experience with user testing and designing based on feedback.
Flexible Work Options
This role is available as either a full-time contract or an 80% contract. For the 80% option, you can choose to work:
- Monday to Friday: 6.4 hours per day
- Monday to Thursday: 8 hours per day
If you opt for the 80% contract, you will be paid 80% of the salary. In both cases, a minimum of 4 hours of overlap with the NYC timezone is required each day.
