About the role
BURN is seeking a logistics officer based in Malawi who will play a crucial role in managing the import and export logistics for the organization.
The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational and analytical skills, have knowledge of customs clearance procedures, and contribute to the overall efficiency of BURN Manufacturing’s logistics operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Bid analysis of import and export quotes for inbound and outbound shipments.
- Process export documents for all shipments of products out of Nigeria.
- Track all inbound and outbound shipments including courier from point of dispatch to receipt, update status and maintain records of the same. Communicate and update stakeholders about shipment status.
- Drive cost efficiency and reductions in logistics for BURN Manufacturing.
- Coordinate and undertake documentation for all inbound and outbound shipments.
- Coordinate with the distribution team on the use of company trucks and vehicles for reverse logistics for inbound shipments.
- Undertake filing and proper keeping of records related to inbound and outbound logistics.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipment of parts, samples, spares etc using courier providers and track delivery.
- Coordinate with courier companies on clearance of cargo.
- Address shipment delays and challenges with customs, shipping lines and pertinent stakeholders.
- Follow up on timely clearing of shipments and offloading at the planned destinations.
- Ensure accurate documentation for all inbound and outbound shipments.
- Handle freight consolidation, cost analysis, routing, and scheduling logistics.
- Follow up closely with the clearing and shipping agencies regarding the shipments and delivery of all cargo.
- Analyse logistics challenges and suggest solutions.
- Safe filing of customs clearance documents
- Source for most competitive transport, logistics and shipping lines and onboard.
- Any other roles as assigned by your supervisor.
Skills and Experience
- Degree in a Procurement, Logistics or Fleet Management Discipline.
- 3 years’ experience in Logistics and Operations.
- Experience in ERP systems – preferably Microsoft NAV.
- Strong Excel Skills.
- Experience in Customs systems and procedures.
- Experience in handling import and export documentation.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Independent thinker capable of dealing at all levels of the organization.
