Malawi Airlines is the national flag carrier that operates B737-700 and Q400 Aircrafts having direct flights to regional cities of Johannesburg: Lusaka: Harare and Dar es Salaam: besides daily domestic flights between Lilongwe and Blantyre. JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT (HEAD OFFICE – LILONGWE)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons of Malawi Airlines to fill in the position of Junior Accountant based at Head Office. The position holder will be reporting to the Finance Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Verifying all incoming invoices of landing, parking, lighting, navigation, over flying, crew hotel accommodation, crew per diem and crew transportation, material purchase related invoices, rent, repair order related invoices, and all service invoices, aviation fuel.
  • Maintain up-to-date contractual agreements for services and purchase orders: verify that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable: Initiates timely correspondences on wrong charges with IATA and vendors and discrepancies: prepare periodical reports on wrong charges and discrepancies.
  • Responsible for invoice verification and get approval using three way matching and process payments when due, auditing and settlement of all payments in connection with supply of goods, fuel and rendering of services, payment of all salaries and wages, payroll taxes and pension, maintaining of proper accounting records and establishing of accruals and liabilities, custodianship of supporting documents.

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Diploma in Accounting or equivalent from recognized institution. MSCE
  • At least 2 years’ experience.
  • High level proven integrity
