Habitat for Humanity Malawi (HFHM), affiliated to Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit Christian Organization with a vision of “a Malawi where everyone has a decent place to live”. HFHM was established in Malawi in 1986 and has assisted over 75,000 families through different housing solutions and access to basic services such as water and sanitation.

Habitat for Humanity Malawi has the following vacant positions to be filled in support of the organization’s operations.

 

Job Title: IT Officer
Department: Administration
Job Summary:          The IT person shall be responsible for Administration of All IT issues for the Program.
Reports To:   HR and Administration Specialist
Supervises:  
Main Responsibilities :
  • IT Support: Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues; assist with PC and peripheral setup.
  • Network & Internet Administration: Manage LAN, WAN, and internet systems; ensure stable connectivity across office and remote locations.
  • Microsoft 365, AzureAD & ERP: Administer Microsoft 365, manage AzureAD (Microsoft Entra) for identity and security, and oversee the ERP system.
  • System & Data Security: Monitor malware, handle security alerts, manage data backups.
  • IT Asset Management: Oversee IT equipment procurement and tracking; manage asset register and insurance claims.
  • Remote & Field Support: Provide remote assistance to offsite staff; ensure functionality in regional offices.
  • SharePoint & Cloud Services: Support users and manage HFHM’s cloud storage and collaboration tools.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain documentation and prepare IT reports; advise on procurement decisions.
Educational Qualifications: At least University Degree in Information Technology, Computer Sciences, or related field.
Experience Required:
  1. Must have not less than 5 years of practical experience.
  2. Very well conversant with IT changes and trends.
Skills & competencies Required:
  1. Technical Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in network administration (LAN, WAN, VPN) and internet services.
    • Expertise in Microsoft 365, AzureAD (Microsoft Entra), and SharePoint administration.
    • Experience with cloud services and IT asset management tools.
    • Knowledge of IT security best practices (malware protection, data backup, encryption).
  2. Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills:
    • Ability to analyze and diagnose technical issues, providing effective solutions.
  3. Project Management:
    • Experience managing IT projects, such as system upgrades or infrastructure implementations, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
  4. Communication Skills:
    • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff and maintain clear communication with vendors and partners.
  5. Adaptability & Learning:
    • Willingness to continuously learn new technologies and tools, particularly in areas like cybersecurity and cloud services.
  6. Attention to Detail:
    • High attention to detail when managing system configurations, IT assets, and documentation.
  7. Time Management:
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects and help desk requests effectively.
  8. Cybersecurity Awareness:
    • Knowledge of best practices for securing IT environments, data encryption, and user authentication.
  9. Vendor & Contract Management:
    • Experience managing IT service provider contracts, ensuring SLAs are met.
