Good Neighbors International-Malawi (GNI) is an international humanitarian and development organization in General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC) with its headquarters in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Good Neighbors implements various community development projects within the following sectors; Health, Education, Water and Sanitation, Agriculture and Social Welfare (advocacy for children’s rights other livelihood projects and emergency response. In order to efficiently and effectively execute its duties, GNI is inviting applications from suitably qualified, passionate, dynamic, pro-active and experienced candidates to fill the following existing vacant positions as follows:

Job Title: Integrated Watershed Management Project Officer
Location: Kasungu Office
Line reporting: Livelihood Manager
Job Period: 6 months, February to July 2025

Key Responsibilities

Project implementation

  • Executing the project in line with the work plan, ensuring outcomes align with organizational objectives and project goals, staying within budget, and devising strategies to enhance community ownership of initiatives
  • Documentation Ensuring timely submission of requested reports.
  • Technical and Capacity-Building Leadership
    Working with teams and stakeholders on advanced watershed practices with technical knowledges
  • Monitoring & Evaluation
    Working with M&E team for tracking project progress and impact, analyze and monitor the health of and integrity of watershed ecosystems and compiling reports to inform future project improvements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    Working with donors, experts, and government entities to integrate efforts, and securing resources and ensuring synergy with broader programs
  • Policy Advocacy and Integration
    Advocate for policies supporting sustainable watershed management at local, regional, and national levels, and work with both local and international partners to ensure compliance with water quality standards and regulations and also alignment of project activities with government regulations and international standards.
  • Innovation and Technology Adoption
    Introduce and promote innovative technologies, such as GIS mapping and remote sensing, for watershed management, collaborate with DME team to produce dashboards for reporting and indicator tracking, Pilot and scale up climate-smart agriculture practices to enhance environmental resilience.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation
    Conduct risk assessments to identify potential environmental and community challenges, develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure project sustainability.
  • Resource Mobilization and Budget Oversight
    Prepare proposals to secure proposals to secure funding for watershed projects, and manage project budgets and ensure efficient allocation of resources.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Extension, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Health and related and related fields.
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of watershed principles and multi-stakeholder management.
