Finances Officer and Assistant Accountant

On behalf of our client, Madison Recruitment is looking for individuals to fill the roles of Finances Officer and Assistant Accountant. In these roles the successful candidates will provide financial information to assist in achieving desired business results. Responsible for compiling and presenting information in a clear concise format, monitoring operational and financial performance and recognizing opportunities for creating efficiency and improved profitability. Successful candidates will have exceptional accounting/finance skills, and solid business judgment.

1. Position: Finance Officer

Department: Finance & Accounting

Location: Lilongwe

Responsibilities

  • Administrative lead for financial planning
  • Leverage planning to manage and optimize financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts and annual budgets for assigned business units
  • Assist in long-range planning process for assigned business units
  • Perform monthly & quarterly variance and trend analysis
  • Develop and maintain key performance financial and operational metrics
  • Analyze data trends and make recommendations to increase revenue, decrease costs and increase efficiency

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance
  • 3+ years of progressive Financial Planning & Analysis experience
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement even in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including financial modeling
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient knowledge in all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred

2. Position: Assistant Accountant

Department: Finance & Accounting

Location: Lilongwe

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to executing accounting procedures and principles that will lead to financial statement, preparation, and financial analysis.

  • Prepare financial statements
  • Assemble bank reconciliation and account schedule
  • Prepare journal entries, expense accruals and allocations
  • Participate in a timely and accurate month-end closing process
  • Assist personnel with questions regarding accounting policies and procedures
  • Analyze income statements fluctuations
  • Provide process improvement and cost saving ideas
  • Managing financial records, assist in financial reporting
  • Support budgeting and forecasting
  • Conduct audits and ensure compliance
  • Collaborate with other departments

Qualifications

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Must have basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Proficient knowledge in all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
