JOB OPPORTUNITY

The Global Health Informatics Institute (GHII) is a non-profit organization working at the intersection of science, engineering and global health to address problems of global health importance through development of local solutions and capacity (https://www.ghii.org). GHII in collaboration with Neotree Charity and University College London is implementing a UK Foreign, Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) funded project, Neotree. Neotree is an innovative digital learning health system, developed in partnership with, and for, nurses and doctors, empowering them to deliver high-quality neonatal care.

We are looking for suitably qualified, passionate, hardworking and enthusiastic individuals to fill the position of Finance Officer for the Neotree Project.

Position: Finance Officer (Grade 8)

Purpose: The Finance Officer will support the GHII finance department and Neotree project team to ensure tight financial management of Neotree’s in-country funds, ensuring that financial policies and processes are adhered to and executed in a timely and accurate manner. The Finance Officer will assist in ensuring that internal finance processes are followed, budgets, cash-flow and other financial forecasts of all donor funds are prepared, with support from UCL and the Neotree Charity.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate and complete financial records, including general ledgers, journals, invoices, receipts, and information related to supplies and inventory.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements, and quarterly financial reports and invoices, for the Neotree project.
  • Process invoices, receipts, and other financial documents accurately and promptly.
  • Perform data entry and maintain updated records of all financial transactions.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure discrepancies are resolved.
  • Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Handle accounts payable duties, including processing payments and collections.
  • Ensure all financial policies and processes are complied with.
  • Providing administrative support to the finance team, including filing, photocopying, and document management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3 years proven experience as a Finance Assistant, Finance Clerk, or in a similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage)
