Good Neighbors International-Malawi (GNI) is an international humanitarian and development organization in General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC) with its headquarters in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Good Neighbors implements various community development proiects within the following sectors: Health. Education. Water and Sanitation, Agriculture and Social Welfare (advocacy for children’s rights other livelihood projects and emergency response. In order to efficiently and effectively execute its duties, GNI is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following existing vacant position as follows:
Job Title: Finance Manager
Location: Head Office, Lilongwe, Malawi
Reporting Line: Country Director
Job Purpose
The Finance Manager will lead and oversee the financial operations and planning of the organization, ensuring fiscal health and compliance with all statutory financial regulations, donor requirements, and organizational standards.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Financial Operations and Compliance
- Oversee daily financial operations, including payroll, invoicing, payments, and other transactions.
- Ensure all financial activities comply with statutory laws, donor requirements, and organizational policies.
- Develop, review, and enforce financial policies and procedures.
2. Budget Management and Reporting
- Lead the preparation, oversight, and forecasting of organizational budgets.
- Prepare and provide accurate monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial reports.
- Support the Country Director in presenting reports to senior management, stakeholders, and the Board of Directors.
3. Risk Management and Controls
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective analysis and decision-making.
- Administer robust financial controls and accounting procedures to safeguard assets.
- Ensure financial records are accurately maintained and safely stored for audit and reporting purposes.
4. Strategic Financial Planning
- Provide financial analysis and insights to guide organizational strategies and objectives.
- Facilitate donor communication, income collection, and adherence to donor budgets.
- Engage in resource mobilization efforts by assisting in contacting potential national and international donors.
5. Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and manage the finance team to achieve departmental objectives.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient organizational operations.
- Actively participate in management meetings and contribute to organizational decision-making.
6. Audit and Legal Compliance
- Facilitate internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
- Stay informed on local and international financial regulations, including tax laws, and ensure compliance.
- Facilitate correspondence with local and foreign stakeholders regarding financial operations.
7. Other Duties
- Prepare and submit detailed work programs, budgets, and progress reports to the Country Director.
- Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Country Director.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
1. Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is an added advantage.
2. Experience
- Proven experience as a Finance Manager or in a similar senior financial management role.
- Demonstrated experience working with NGOs or donor-funded projects is an asset.
3. Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of financial statistics, accounting principles, and relevant legislation.
- Proficiency in finance and accounting software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
4. Interpersonal Skills
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Strong work ethic, confidentiality, and objectivity.
- Flexibility to travel to field offices and project sites as needed.
5. Performance Goals
- Ensure accurate, transparent, and timely financial reporting.
- Manage budgets effectively and deliver precise financial forecasting.
- Maintain compliance with statutory and donor financial regulations.
- Enhance financial controls and risk management practices.
