Habitat for Humanity Malawi (HFHM), affiliated to Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit Christian Organization with a vision of “a Malawi where everyone has a decent place to live”. HFHM was established in Malawi in 1986 and has assisted over 75,000 families through different housing solutions and access to basic services such as water and sanitation.

Habitat for Humanity Malawi (HFHM) is implementing the “Circle of Care” project funded by Habitat for Humanity Canada, in the district of Dedza.  The project will be carried out in collaboration with the Malawi Council for Disability Affairs (MACODA) and aims to advance the well-being and fundamental rights of children with disabilities, focusing on their survival, development, protection and participation in the development sphere.  The goal is to champion the rights of people with disabilities in Dedza district by providing suitable housing, health and financial education and livelihood protection.

Habitat for Humanity Malawi has the following vacant position to be filled in support of the project “FIELD OFFICER”

 

Job Title: Field Officer (FO)

Job Summary:          Ensures that the project implementation is carried out according to schedule, standard and principles of Habitat for Humanity Malawi.
Reports To:   Programs Manager
Supervises:   Community Project Partners, CRM Committee and PASSA Committees.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Mobilize and build the capacity of communities to manage local development projects that respond to the unmet needs of VG housing, health care, legal protection in a socially economically and environmentally sustainable manner
  • Assist partner families in securing legal title to their land to ensure stability and security of OVC beneficiary families
  • Work closely with HFHM partners in assessing the needs of Vulnerable households that require their houses to be built, renovated or rehabilitated
  • Collaborate with project partners (Malawi Council of Disability Affairs – MACODA) community mobilization, beneficiary selection, project monitoring, and preparation of project review meetings.
  • Develop beneficiary profiles before and after accessing a HFHM house
  • Work in collaboration with Building Supervisor to prepare construction sites
  • Work in collaboration with Building Supervisor to ensure successful delivery of the project.
  • Develops and implements plans to achieve the projects goals
  • Prepares operational budgets for project activities and ensures good stewardship of finances received at project level.
  • Submits timely donor reports to immediate supervisor.
  • Represents Habitat for Humanity Malawi at community level and communicates Habitat’s Christian message.
  • Ensures that project goals are met according to budget and time allocations.
  • Ensures accurate and timely data collections through periodic monitoring
Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree, Community Development, Humanities, Development Studies or any other related filed.
Experience Required:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Rural/Community Development, Development Studies or Humanities or equivalent qualification obtained from reputable institution
  2. 5 years working experience in community development and mobilisation.
  3. Very good experience in managing teams & coordinating projects
  4. Good facilitation skills
  5. Cultural & gender sensitivity & Adaptability
  6. Data collection skills.
  7. Skills in basic financial reporting & management
