VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT 

Centre for the Development of People (CEDEP), is a local non-government organization whose mission is to create, promote and protect an enabling legal and social environment for the full realization of the well-being of sexual minorities and vulnerable populations. CEDEP is a human rights organization established in November 2005, and registered under the Trustees Incorporation Act of 1962.

CEDEP is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced Malawians for the Position of Clinic Nurse to be based in Lilongwe. 

Position: Drop-In Center (DIC) Officer
Supervisor: District Coordinator
Location: Lilongwe Drop-In Center

POSITION SUMMARY

CEDEP is seeking a dedicated and passionate DIC Officer to join our team and play a crucial role in the on-going PROTECT project focused on improving HIV care and prevention among Key Populations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure good quality clinic data and adequate commodities consumption records, calculate consumption and make requisitions on time to avoid stock-outs;
  • Ensure effective day to day operation of all the services at Drop-in Centre:
  • Provide technical support and supervision to health service providers, peer educators and other volunteers
  • Compile timely comprehensive monthly, quarterly and annual project reports
  • Ensure good quality clinic data and adequate commodities consumption records, calculate consumption and make requisitions on time to avoid stock-outs;
  • Collect biological specimens.
  • Administer HIV/STI tests.
  • Assess client referral needs and manage testing forms.
  • Provide pre- and post-test counselling to clients, HIV& STI education.
  • Assist with study intake as needed.
  • Do any other job as requested from time to time by the Study Supervisor or PI
  • Ensure that project targets are reached
  • Ensure up to date record keeping and office management
  • Coordinate and implement clinical activities at the clinic and outreach services
  • Undertake any other lawful duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education, Experience and Personal Traits

  • Minimum qualification of Diploma in Nursing, those with Degree in Nursing will have an added advantage.
  • Three years’ experience in HIV and AIDS Programming
  • Those Trained in ART, STI, HTC will have added advantage
  • Should be computer literate
  • Good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate in an open and non-judgmental manner about HIV, STIs,
  • Should have knowledge in monitoring, evaluation and reporting
  • Should have good communication and negotiation skills
  • Ready to work under minimal supervision
  • Should be ready to work with high-risk groups on HIV and minority population
  • Able to understand and speak English and Chichewa fluently
