VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT 

Program Summary  

The Learning Centre for Quality Management (LCQM) is a Centre of Excellence at Kamuzu  University of Health Sciences (KUHeS). As a regional hub for excellence, the LCQM is dedicated  to strengthening healthcare systems across Southern Africa. With a focus on enhancing the  quality of healthcare delivery, the Centre promotes evidence-based practices through  capacity building, research, and knowledge management.

Collaborating with local and international partners, the LCQM fosters a sustainable, people centered approach to healthcare, addressing critical challenges within health systems and  driving impactful solutions across the region.The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development  Office (FCDO) has provided funding to KUHeS to enhance the capacity of the LCQM to support  the implementation of the Health Sector Strategic Plan III (HSSP III) and its associated reforms.  To achieve these, LQCM Project is inviting suitably and qualified candidates to fill the  following vacant positions:

Documentation and Learning Officer – 1 Position 

Department : Knowledge Management Unit

Responsible to : Knowledge Management Lead

Type of contract : 2 year-fixed Contract

Location : Lilongwe

Role Purpose 

The Documentation and Learning Officer will be responsible for supporting systematic  documentation and packaging of successful change ideas for dissemination to policy makers,  partners and implementers. This role will support institutionalization of documenting lessons  in the health care system and will leverage technology to create a platform of collaborative  learning. The Documentation and Learning Officer will work across all pillars of the Centre,

i.e. knowledge management, research and capacity building to strengthen learning within the  health care system.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide direct implementation support of knowledge management system for  improvement initiatives and successful change ideas in learning districts.  • Support systematic documentation of lessons and experiences in implementation of  knowledge management system and provide recommendations for national  implementation.
  • Provide direct support to model hospitals for quality and develop them into sites for  experiential learning.
  • Support systematic documentation and dissemination of lessons for developing  model hospitals for quality.
  • Support development of resource mobilisation framework for the model hospitals  for quality.
  • Support packaging of successful change ideas and disseminate them to policy  makers,
  • Leverage technology to create a collaborative platform for policy makers,  implementers and donors to learn and share lessons.
  • Support generation or mobilisation of resources for the centre.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and other reports as required and oversee the  dissemination of reports to the relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a clinical field or nursing.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality improvement as a mentor to district or  facility teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in data management or knowledge management in health  programs or research institutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with health information systems, data collection, and  quality assurance process.
  • Demonstrated experience in sharing lessons through webinars, policy briefs,  newsletters etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in generation and mobilisation of resources.

Other Competencies: 

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with  multidisciplinary teams.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
