Family Planning Association of Malawi (FPAM) is a local, non-governmental organization providing youth friendly sexual and reproductive health rights, information, and services.

FPAM compliments the government of Malawi in improving the health status of all people in Malawi. FPAM’s vision is a Malawian society with access to quality and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services and information.

FPAM is looking for suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position.

DISTRICT DATA OFFICER – NENO

Main Purpose of the job

The Data officer will play a crucial role in supporting the N’zatonse Phase V – DISC project, a collaborative initiative led by PSI coordinated closely with the Ministry of Health at both national and district levels The Data Officer will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely data entry, particularly utilizing DHIS2 and Kobo Toolbox platforms

Reports to: – M & E Coordinator

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Accurate Data Entry: Systematically enter all project-related data into the designated platforms (DHIS2, KoboToolbox) with a specific focus on Self-Injectable (Sl) contraceptive uptake data.
  2. Data Verification: Performing regular data verifications against source documents like service delivery registers, clinic records, and field reports
  3. Data Platform Expertise: Maintain a high level of proficiency in using DHIS and KoboToolbox, ensuring all data inputs conform to national and project-specific guidelines.
  4. Collaborative Validation: Work in close partnership with the M&E Coordinator and field teams to validate and verify data from multiple sources, ensuring a comprehensive dataset for analysis and decision making.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key liaison between project teams, consortium partners, and Ministry of Health officials to ensure a smooth flow of data, harmonizing project data with national DHIS2/HMIS.
  6. Capacity Building: Develop and deliver training programs for field staff, health workers, and other project stakeholders on data entry protocols, troubleshooting data-related issues, and efficiently using DHIS2 and KoboToolbox for Si tracking.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience for the post

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (eg., Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Public Health, Economics, Monitoring and Evaluation).
  2. At least 3 years of proven experience in data management roles, preferably in the context of health projects, with a focus on SRH or family planning services.
  3. In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with DHIS and KoboCollect/ODK platforms for health data management.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex data into understandable formats for diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
