CARE Malawi has secured funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program, locally titled ‘Tiwoloka’. The funding runs from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2029. CARE Malawi will implement the project in partnership with the Forum for African Women Educationists in Malawi (FAWEMA) and Water Aid.
Therefore, CARE Malawi seeks to recruit well qualified person to fill the following vacant position within its USDA funded McGovern dole Food for Education program i.e. Tiwoloka Project in Malawi:
DATABASE MANAGER
Position Description
The Database Manager will be responsible for managing data flow from field advisors and other staff; compiling and cleaning datasets; and setting up and maintaining the project’s dashboard. The Database Manager will also operationalize data quality assurance procedures with field teams and ensure the availability of real-time data to inform decision-making and adaptations to project design. This position is based in Lilongwe.
Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Operationalize the use of standard e-tools for tracking commodity delivery and utilization.
- Follow up with Field Advisors and other staff to ensure adequate and timely use of the e-tools.
- Compile datasets related to participation in training and membership in groups mobilized by the project to track the total number of individual participants (other than students) supported by Tiwoloka.
- Ensure completeness of the datasets; tracking the total number of participants engaged in each component of the project; and reporting on the total number of individual participants supported by Tiwoloka.
- Design and maintain a PowerBi dashboard to enable user-friendly visualization of implementation tracking and emerging results.
- Identify key variables for the dashboard; map the relevant data for export; and set up the dashboard, revising the structure over time to adequately serve project needs.
- Participate in planning and adaptation meetings; contributions to MEAL capacity building; support to cross-project learning; and mandatory training.
Required education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics, economy, geography, or another relevant area.
- 3 years’ experience in database management and data quality assurance.
- Experience in working with PowerBi.
- Experience in geospatial mapping, preferably for US government-funded projects.
- Ability to adapt data quality assurance procedures to spot errors and inconsistencies in datasets.
- Ability to work effectively as part of office team and coordinate with a variety of stakeholders, maintaining harmonious and productive working relationships.
- Excellent and demonstrable writing and communication skills.
- Excellent facilitation skills to conduct training sessions for small, medium and large sized groups.
- Team player- willing to work with country office teams to achieve desirable results.
