NBS Bank Plc invites applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates to fill a vacant position below, tenable in Compliance Department at the Bank’s Head Office in Blantyre.

COMPLIANCE ADVISORY MANAGER

JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Head of Compliance, the position holder ensures the Bank’s legal and regulatory requirements are made aware to staff members and embedded in processes and procedures.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares training plans, training materials and assessments on compliance requirements for staff members knowledge and implementation and facilitates training and awareness events to ensure complete use and adherence to KYC requirements and compliance directives.
  • Conducts compliance and AML/CFT Induction training of Bank Paupi Agents and all new staff members in line with internal procedures.
  • Drafts, maintains and updates the compliance control environment (Policies, procedures, programme) and ensures review or update of new requirements annually.
  • Reviews regulatory examination reports and prepares action plans for closure of findings. Ensures all findings are rectified within the prescribed time frames and in line with agreed management action plans.
  • Reviews new and changes to laws, regulations and directives and communicates actions, and implements training and appropriate change management procedures to relevant Business units to ensure compliance and monitor compliance to requirements.
  • Attends Project Taskforce and UAT meetings to ensure compliance to legal and regulatory requirements of new products and ensure robust controls are in place before product launch;
  • Acts as Data Protection Officer for the Bank and ensures Data Protection Act requirements are upheld at all levels of the bank.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in law or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution of higher learning.

EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

  • Should have technical and analytical focus.
  • Work within established standards and guidelines.
  • Authoritative, quick decision making within defined span of control.
  • Exposure to compliance functions of not less than 4 years.
  • Proven knowledge of banking compliance requirements, compliance training and advisory.
