CHILD PROTECTION WORKERS (3)
Project Hope Namibia-MA seeks qualified Malawians to be contracted to work for the USAID funded Ana ndi Achinyamata Patsogolo (ANAPA) Project. This project aimed at preventing new HIV infections and improve the health wellbeing and Protection of Children, Adolescents, their families and Young Women (CAFYW) living with, affected by and vulnerable to HIV. ANAPA will be implemented in high HIV burdened nine districts in Malawi (Blantyre, Chikwawa, Lilongwe, Machinga, Mangochi, Mulanje, Phalombe, Thyolo and Zomba). The program focus on Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and Adolescent Boys and Young Men (ABYM). The approach is also including but not limited to System Strengthening, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) in close collaboration with Government of Malawi (GoM).
Applications are invited from both prospective Child Protection Workers and Community Case Workers from the catchment areas surrounding Lighthouse Umodzi Family Centre such as Mbayani, Chilimba, Machinjiri, Soche, Manase, Chemusa, Nancholi, Chimwankhunda, Zingwangwa as per Terms of Reference below:

Duty Station: Lighthouse Umodzi Family Centre (Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital)
Task Summary
CPWs will be providing mentorship, coaching and supervision to the Community Case Workers (CCWs) in the respective health facility catchment area. Overseeing provision of health and social services covering all four domains (Health, Safe, Stable and Schooled) to children, adolescents, their families, and Young Women (CAFYW) and their parents/caregivers under ANAPA.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with all key stakeholders to Identify and offer enrolment to eligible CAFYW into ANAPA Activity.
- Support the CCWs to build unique and trusting relationships with VCAY and their families.
- Provide technical support to CCWs in conducting follow-up needs assessments and development of individualized case plans and service provision to the beneficiaries.
- Conduct regular household visits, facility-based case management, virtual case management as per clients’ needs to provide services covering all four domains (Health, Safe, Stable and Schooled) to children, adolescents, their families, and Young Women (CAFYW) within the communities under the health facility catchment areas and support the CCWs on the same.
- Support the CCWs to conduct demand creation, screening, counseling, education, mentoring and psychosocial support to a cohort CAFYW and their parents/caregivers.
- Lead in facilitation of linkage to health and socioeconomic services and track referral completion.
- Monitor layering of services and readiness for graduation or program completion.
- Lead in provision of appropriate information to Program Officers and M&E officers about project participants who have completed or are due for graduation from ANAPA.
- Participate in joint home visits with supervisors to do service provision spot- checks as part of verification, program quality and data quality assessments.
- Collaborate with different coordinators to set performance goals and regular evaluation.
- Compile and share weekly and monthly reports.
- Collaborate with the CCWs and CPWs to jointly visit all the households that were previously handed over from APA to know their geographical location.
- Any other responsibility assigned by DSWO and ANAPA Leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
- Malawi School Certificate of Education
- Trained in Child Protection Certification, those with Certificate or Diploma in Social Work or Community Development from Magomero will be an added advantage.
- Trained in Child Protection Case Management and HIV Sensitive Child Protection Case Management or positive parenting will have added advantage
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Child Protection Worker and or 3 years Community Case Worker (CCW) or child protection work, and community-based socioeconomic interventions particularly to OVC or CAFYW and their caregivers/parents.
- Supervision of Case Management
Specific Knowledge, Skills and abilities required.
- Able to speak the local language.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in the community.
- Knowledge of local community dynamics and cultural sensitivity.
- Proven participatory learning and facilitation skills.
- Proven record of achieving results.
Attribute
- Good communication Skills – a good level of written and spoken English.
- Malawian citizen living in or being from the area/community applied for
- S/he MUST be above 18 years and not more than 45 years.
ANAPA will select suitable applicants and contract them as Child Protection Workers. The applicants must be residents of the catchment areas mentioned above. This will be vetted by the Community Leaders of the catchment area.
