VACANCY – (RE ADVERTISEMENT)

Chilema Ecumenical Training and Conference Centre invite applications from suitable and experienced persons to fill the vacant post of CHEF.

The Head Chef will be responsible for ensuring that the standard and quality of the food production and the hygiene within the department is maintained at the highest level at all times. This role is very much hands-on, requiring attention to detail and a positive work attitude and be able to comprehend complex situations or very busy circumstances.

Responsible to: The Administrative Secretary

Main Tasks:

• Preparation of all food handling personnel and food preparation areas.
• Ensure all food is prepared as per food preparation requirements.
• Ensure meals are produced on time, and sufficient quantities are available for the various areas
• Prepare daily pastry and bakery requirements as per the menu.
• Oversee and supervise all kitchen staff to ensure that duties are fulfilled as per set standards.
• Ensure that the entire Kitchen is kept clean and hygienic at all times and be able to implement quality standards as per Malawi Bureau of Standards.

Requirements

• Proven experience as chef
• Exceptional proven ability of kitchen management
• Ability in dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress
• Outstanding communication and leadership skills
• Up-to-date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Certificate in Food production from any other recognized institution.
• Malawi School Certificate of Education.
• At least Minimum of 5 years’ experience in reputable hotel set-up.
