JOB VACANCY: Camp Manager

MSASA Eco-Camps seeks highly motivated and experienced Camp Manager to join our team at Msasa Mountain Camp, Livingstonia, Northern Malawi. In this pivotal role, you will lead our team and provide hands-on strategic and operational leadership and ensure the company’s growth, sustainability and compliance.

Position Summary   

The Camp Manager will be responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of the camp. You will be responsible for overseeing daily camp operations, managing staff, and ensuring a great experience for our guests and provide a level of hospitality which meets the companies’ and customer’s expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming environment and maintain high service standards and maintain cleanliness and upkeep of camp facilities.
  • Create and maintain customer relationship for the camp and ensure excellent guest service and smooth operations.
  • Maintain the smooth operation of the camp, its facilities, infrastructure, services and functions.
  • Manage all staff attendance and monitor their day-to-day activities and supervise department heads and staff, ensuring tasks are completed effectively.
  • Handle HR duties, including staff training, assignments, and conduct periodic staff performance appraisal reviews.
  • Maintain a safe, harmonious, enjoyable work environment for staff.
  • Prepare monthly reports on budget, performance, feedback, and maintenance, and suggest improvements.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports on business operations.
  • Regularly report to management and ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Coordinate activities to maximize profitability, guest satisfaction, and property maintenance.
  • Plan and organize camp activities based on available resources and guest preferences.
  • Perform any other tasks as directed by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities   

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Computer literacy MS office applications including google drive and Excel
  • Ability to work as a team and be flexible.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Staff management and strong administrative skills and experience with budgeting.
  • Proficient in English (both written and spoken) and writing skills in English is compulsory.
  • Must be willing sometimes to work long and irregular hours with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to work in remote locations for extended periods.
  • Must have marketing skills.

 Qualifications   

  • Must be a holder of a Diploma in Hospitality Management and min 5 years lodge/camp management experience.
  • Having a marketing certificate is an added advantage.
