JOB OPPORTUNITY
CK Cold Storage intends to recruit a mature and experienced individual to the position of Accountant who will be reporting to the Finance Manager. The position is tenable at Makata campus in Blantyre. This role requires a solid understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial controls in the food processing and storage industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.
- Analyze production and storage costs to ensure profitability.
- Track and allocate expenses related to slaughtering, processing, and storage operations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.
- Monitor inventory levels and perform periodic stock reconciliations for raw materials, processed goods, and stored items.
- Ensure accurate valuation of inventory in line with accounting standards.
- Develop annual budgets in collaboration with department heads.
- Provide variance analysis to highlight deviations from budgeted figures.
- Recommend corrective actions based on financial insights.
- Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Malawi School Certificate of Education with six credits
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g, ACCA) will be an advantage.
Experience: At least 5-10 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the food processing or cold storage industry.
Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with cost accounting principles and inventory management.
- Knowledge of tax and compliance requirements for food processing businesses.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental coordination.
- Adaptability to industry-specific challenges, including managing perishable goods and fluctuating operational demands.
