NBS Bank Pic invites applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates to fill the following vacancy tenable in Small and Medium Enterprises Department in Mzuzu.

TEAM LEAD, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES

Reporting to the Cluster Manager – the successful candidate’s responsibility will be to coordinate SME business growth by developing, fostering, and growing relationships in line with SME strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following, among other responsibilities:

  • Remains alert to climate trends, market trends, changes and practices and provides risk appetite recommendations to the Cluster Manager.
  • Participates in the annual identification and development of the long- and short-term Strategy and Business Plan for the SME.
  • Checks and monitors the budget on a monthly basis, identifies variances and takes appropriate action.
  • Develops and submits the portfolio annual sales budget through Cluster
    Manager for the Head of SME’s approval.
  • Generates proposals that increase value to the SME portfolio through the identification of new clients and retention of clients.
  • Engages customers through visits, cold calling and meetings in order to grow customer base and achieve sales and revenue targets.
  • Manages the SME sales volume, growth initiatives and utilization level in line with the Business Plan and targets.
  • Negotiates with SME sector customers under respective portfolio for increased wallet of deposits, loans and usage of alternate channels like digital banking.
  • Monitors and evaluates Audit, Routine, Compliance and Inspection reports and initiates corrective actions to close all the issues and avoid repeat of audit findings.
  • Assesses all SME loan applications on risk and compliance, based on analytical judgment of the proposal, and recommends with reasons to the Head of Credit through Head of SME.
  • Evaluates staff, identifies performance strengths and deficiencies, and recommends trainings to Cluster Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business related field from recognized institution.
  • Banking Qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of four (4) years in Marketing, Sales, Credit Management or related environment with two years at supervisory level

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Ability to manage and develop staff.
  • Clear verbal and written communication and ability to prepare accurate reports.
  • Ability to plan and organize in line with job requirements.
  • Ability to interact, negotiate (where applicable) and achieve targets.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret and evaluate financial statements.
