Malawi Electoral Commission

The Malawi Electoral Commission, “the Commission”, is a body corporate created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi.

In accordance with Section 13 of the Malawi Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint suitably qualified persons with relevant experience to fill the following vacant position within its secretariat:

Job Title: Assistant ICT Officer

Grade: C7
Responsible to: Regional Elections Manager
Location: Regional Office – North

Purpose

To provide support for the smooth operations of the commissions Information Technology systems.

Key duties & Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and networks;
  • Ensuring the security of IT systems, including data backup, antivirus protection, and access controls;
  • Providing technical support to users, troubleshooting, and resolving IT-related problems;
  • Assisting with computer-related problems and offering advice on how to use software or hardware;
  • Managing and monitoring network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls and VPNs;
  • Implementing security measures to protect computer systems from viruses and unauthorized access.
  • Implementing and enforcing IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance and security.
  • Documenting IT systems, configurations, and procedures for knowledge sharing and training.

Qualification

A Diploma In Information Technology, Computer Science or similar field, plus at least two (2) years relevant work experience.

Age

25 – 35 years

Core competence

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Critical thinking abilities
  • Familiarity with network configuration and security.
  • Skills in system administration and technical support.
