Malawi Electoral Commission

The Malawi Electoral Commission, “the Commission”, is a body corporate created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi.

In accordance with Section 13 of the Malawi Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint suitably qualified persons with relevant experience to fill the following vacant position within its secretariat:

Job Title: IT Hardware Assistant
Number Required: 1
Grade: C8
Responsible to: Assistant Network Administrator
Location: MEC Head Office

Purpose

To provide a range of tasks that support and maintain the computer hardware infrastructure with the Commission.

Key duties & Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical support for the computer systems and networks;
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues, identifying and fixing problems with computer equipment;
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining computer equipment such as servers, PCs, and peripherals like printers and routers;
  • Updating and maintaining software and security patches to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure;
  • Assisting users by proving guidance and training on how to use hardware and software effectively;
  • Maintaining an accurate inventory of computer assets to keep track of the hardware devices within the organization.
  • Troubleshooting network connectivity issues to ensure stable and reliable internet access.
  • Responding to service requests in a tinely manner, ensuring that any hardware-related issues are addressed promptly.

Qualification

A Diploma in Information Technology, Electronic Engineering or similar field, plus at least two (2) years relevant work experience.

Age

25 – 35 years

Core competence:

  • Understanding of computer hardware, software, and networks.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving related to hardware issues.
  • Familiarity with network configuration and security.
  • Skills in system administration and technical support.
    Attention to detail and strong organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Certification

  • CompTIA A+/CompTIA Network
