Airport Developments Limited (ADL)

Airport Developments Limited (ADL) is a Company fully owned by Malawi Government and was incorporated under the English Companies Statutes of 1908 and 1913 which regulated Companies in Malawi before 1986.

ADL manages Kamuzu and Chileka International Airports and all other aerodromes in Malawi. It is responsible for and facilitation of smooth, safe and secure movement of air travelers and cargo through provision of world class infrastructure, services and effective management of airports in an environmentally sustainable manner for socio- economic development.

POSITION

Legal and Compliance Officer

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To monitor, guide and ensure strict compliance to statutory, regulatory and legal obligations and requirements

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft legal documents and prepare demand letters
  • Organize and track files from case documents
  • Prepare legal arguments for lawsuits and file documents with the courts
  • Identify appropriate legal materials for particular cases
  • Maintain legal records and files
  • Assist in Litigation
  • Act as an independent reviewer and evaluator to ensure that compliance issues and concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • Review advertising, marketing, promotional and training materials and programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized institution
  • Member of Malawi Law Society
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in legal field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with legal procedures and aviation law
  • Ability to exercise judgment, initiative and discretion in confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A team-player and ability to motivate others
  • Decisiveness and acceptance of responsibility
  • Highest level of integrity, confidentiality and trustworthy

REMUNERATION PACKAGE

The successful candidate shall be offered an attractive salary and benefits package commensurate with the position and qualifications of the candidate.
