COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OFFICER

Gala Agriculture Company Ltd, one of the country’s leading macadamia producing business, operates 12 estates in the Lilongwe District, is looking to recruit an experienced, highly dynamic, motivated and skilled individual as a Community Development Program Officer. ONLY FEMALE APPLICANTS are required.

Position Summary

The core of the role will be the design and implementation of a development plan for the communities surrounding the macadamia estates. The development plan will include smallholder farmer and beekeeping programs and will also involve extensive liaison with stakeholders and co-operation with development organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze, develop, coordinate, and oversee company’s short term and long-term plans for the implementation of priority programs within the surrounding communities.
  • Stakeholder and local Community engagement through ongoing communications and mapping
  • Liaising with Development Organizations.
  • Managing of Service providers
  • Manage all relevant admin procedures as required and ensure that Company’s Plans adhere to the prescribed systems and procedures.
  • Responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation and management of the operational programs and procedures as set and in line with Company standards.
  • Reporting to EHSSO and Investors

Required Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in social studies, rural community development, Agriculture extension, Business Administration with experience in social development from reputable Universities preferably LUANAR, UNIMA, MZUNI and MUBAS.
  • At least five years working experience preferably on community development programs and ability to handle Donor funds projects.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have experience in using computers i.e. Outlook, office power point, office excel and office word with knowledge in data collection platform.
    Ability to produce reports and presentations for both internal and external parties.
  • Must have more experience in handling office administration work as the office demands 80% administration work and 20% field work.
  • Must have Class A Motorcycle valid licence with more than 3 years riding motorbike experience.
